NASCAR rolls into Talladega this weekend with a billion unknowns. How will this new package race? Will the tandem return? How fast will cars go? Will side drafting be as prevalent with this new package as it was with the old one back at the Daytona 500? Can Ford continue their domination at Talladega? Or could a new name lock themselves into the playoffs?
A lot of questions but not a lot of answers yet. One thing we do know is the Cup package should produce some exciting racing. A 9″ spoiler with a a 1 inch spacer on the rear track bar to jack the back end up in the air should create huge holes in the air and huge runs.
Key works for the weekend: the big one, side draft, drafting, bump drafting. At some point, Fox will talk about how this is an Indian burial ground if all hell starts breaking loose. And we’ll talk about how big the track is by putting other stadiums inside of it.
