Kyle Larson Hands Christopher Bell His Third Straight Chili Bowl Win

Just win it looked like Kyle Larson would finally win his first Golden Driller at the Chili Bowl he found himself in a familiar spot. Second place.

After dominating much of the 55 lap A-Main Larson took the white flag with Bell in tow. The two-time defending champ was close but not close enough to make a move. Until Larson slipped up in turn 1 allowing Bell underneath his McDonalds KKM midget.

That little slip up set up a drag race down to the backstretch and into turn 3 where Larson tried to bang his way back by. It didn’t happen and nice guy Kyle settled for second as Christoper Bell capitalized and took his third straight Chili Bowl win.

Larson took the lead on lap 21 and commanded the race until the white flag. With two laps to go Larson had a nearly insurmountable one second lead. The driller was his to lose and like multiple other occasions in his career, he lost it.

Logan Seavy looked to be the car to beat early leading the first 20 laps. Once Larson and Bell dispersed of him he fell into the clutches fo Justin Grant and from there got beat around before finishing 9th. Watch out for Seavy though, the kid who ran the Truck race at Eldora last season could be in play for a few more starts in 2019.

Keith Kunz Motorsports claimed their fifth victory in a row at the famed Chili Bowl. Matching a feat set by the Swindells. For the most part of Saturday and the week, it was KKM versus everyone else. The domination is going to continue next year unless a team can finally step up to the plate.

One last thing, cut down the time between the B-main and the A-main. Tony Stewart took his sweet ass time prepping the track for it to look exactly the same after 1 lap. Track prep is important but obsessing over it for that long nearly sent this guy to bed.
