People actually booed Joey Logano after his bump and run for the win on Martin Truex Jr. at Martinsville.
THEY BOOED A BUMP AND RUN AT A SHORT TRACK.
Do you understand how absurd that above sentence is? The same people who have lambasted the governing body for more short tracks booed a move that was not only clean and textbook but happens at every short track nearly every weekend. It was an absurd ending for a rather great finish on Sunday.
NASCAR fans love to live in the days of yesteryear. They praise Dale for what he did which included straight up dumping people like he was racing a late model at Martinsville. Only one time did Dale ever get booed but let’s be honest that was the most blatant dump and run ever. Not even Jesus could spin his way out of that one.
To clamor about days gone by when “drivers raced harder” and “people weren’t afraid to hurt other drivers feelings” to do what they did yesterday was an embarrassment. How the hell are you going to boo a guy for doing something on a short track guys have been doing since the dawn of short track racing?
THIS IS THE SAME CROWD THAT CHEERED FOR MATT KENSETH DEMOLISHING LOGANO. Make up your minds.
You can’t beg for more short tracks when the schedule has the possibility of shaking up post-2020 and then do this. NASCAR needs more of what Joey Logano did. A little controversy, a little passion, and hard nose driving. Fans have begged for that and then they complain about it. “He wasn’t nice to the man with the beard” shut your face. This is what the sport needs. You want to boo something boo the people who build 1.5-mile tracks. Find Marcus Smith and boo him in lieu of his father. That’s who needs to be booed. Hell, boo the entire state of Kansas while you’re at it.
NASCAR fans are so fickle. Take a stand on something you snowflakes. You either stand behind your pleas for more short tracks or you join in the lemmings’ line and support 1.5-mile tracks.
