LEXINGTON, N.C. (January 9, 2018 ) – In the midst of off-season expansion (? we missed this), Kaulig Racing™ (gotta have that TM so Ron doesn’t steal it) announced today that Ryan Truex Jr. and his perfectly manicured facial hair will drive the No. 11 Chevrolet for the full 2018 NASCAR Xfinity Series (NXS) season. Truex is coming off a ninth-place finish in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) driver standings. Former driver Blake Koch is also coming off back to back playoff appearances in the #11 Xfinity car but we’ll ignore that for the press release.
Ryan is the younger brother of current Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series (MENCS) champion Martin Truex Jr. Naturally, that means some of Martin’s luck will rub off on him like a Peyton and Eli Manning sort of situation. Also, Ryan has two back-to-back NASCAR K&N East Series Championships as well as multiple years of experience in NASCAR’s premier series. Including a near win at Dover in 2012 for Joe Gibbs Racing until JoLo ruined it.
“I’m extremely excited to be making the move back into the Xfinity Series, this time full time,” said Truex. “In just two years since splitting with Tri-Star, Kaulig Racing has proved to be a highly competitive team each race and it should be a great fit. Last season I saw a lot of improvements in my racing and hopefully this year I can avoid more wrecks and continue the success Kaulig Racing has built and compete for the championship at the end of the year. Sorry, Blake.”
Two years after entering into the NXS, team owner Matt Kaulig is excited about his team’s fast-paced growth in the sport aided by RCR. With back-to-back playoff runs thanks to Blake as well as two stage wins and one pole award in the team’s short history, Kaulig sees promising opportunities for this season with Truex Jr. behind the wheel.
“When we started this team two years ago I knew we had the potential to be one of the strongest teams in the Xfinity Series and I think we’re within reach of that goal. Ryan is going to be a great addition to the team and I have the highest hopes for this season. Each year we keep improving as a team and I think this season we’ll be able to get some wins and make another run in the playoffs. Everyone at Kaulig Racing is excited to have Ryan on board and it should be a great, fun year. Once again, sorry Blake.” (Someone forgot to tell him Christopher Bell and Ryan Preece are in the series this year, yikes)
Truex will make his debut for Kaulig Racing at Daytona International Speedway on Saturday, February 17 th, 2018. A sponsor announcement regarding who Truex will be bringing to the team will be made shortly.
About Kaulig Racing™
Kaulig Racing™ is a full-time NASCAR Xfinity Series (NXS) team in a technical alliance with Richard Childress Racing who the #11 team continually outran with Blake Koch behind the wheel. Leaf Filter served as the full-time sponsor for the #11 car the last two seasons. Some other nonsense that talks about how great the team is. Insert a sponsor shoutout. Boast about some playoff number and that’s all.
