Surprise! Lewis Hamilton Is On Pole For The Australian GP

As if there was ever really any doubt, Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes are once again the standard in Formula One. The dynamic duo proved once again that the silver arrows will not be denied as Hamilton stormed to pole in Australia.

There was a lot of talk that Ferrari and Red Bull have closed the gap, which they have. Mercedes and Hamilton showed that their pace in pre season testing was nothing more than sandbagging at it’s finest. Ferrari are close, but they aren’t there yet. Maranello needs to start the evolution of the car immediately and by the time the series gets to Europe they could be there with Mercedes.

Not real surprises in qualifying outside of Romain Grosjean putting the Haas at P6 on the starting grid. Also Daniel Riccardo crashed in Q3, he will start 10th. ┬áPascal Wehrlein pulled himself out of the Sauber because he doesn’t feel fit to race after his flip in the Race of Champions:
