Recap Justin Allgaier’s Xfinity Race Win At Phoenix

An Xfinity Series regular won another race! Justin Allgaier won Saturday’s race at Phoenix and $100,000 since it was a Dash 4 Cash race. This is the second time an Xfinity Series regular has won after Ryan Reed took the season opener at Daytona. Allgaier had to earn his trophy today though.

Allgaier drove from 5th for the win on Saturday where he had to hold off Ryan Blaney who drove from the rear of the field and the always quick Erik Jones. He did that for his first win since 2012 at Montreal. A hell of a drought for a guy who even admitted he wasn’t sure he’d ever be back in victory lane.

As for the race, it got off to a hot start, literally it was 93 degrees ambient air temperature. For you scientists at home that’s just the air temperature. Daniel Suarez was hot though after an attempt the go three wide with Jeremy Clements sent him off the wall.

Nice little Tokyo Drift action, points deducted for hitting the wall. A fair amount of damage to the #18 that was Kyle Buschless this weekend due to rule. That contact would set up this contact;

And no his day is done. See you on Sunday Daniel.

After that we had some clean racing for awhile until Matt Tifft decided to give Brendan Gaughan a little love tap. Gaughan wasn’t too please and refused to crash. He did however try to slide in for a kiss because if you’re going to love tap someone that hard, might as well get some action.

Mario Gosselin was doing Mario Gosselin things. Wrecking.

At least he wasn’t doing a buck fifty this week dodging wrecks that happened half a lap before he got there like Las Vegas last week. You can take the driver out of ARCA but you can’t take the ARCA out of the driver.

Joey Gase decided it wasn’t hot enough for his liking. Took being lit to a whole new level.

Just Allgaier took the lead with 15 to go and didn’t look back.

The #7 had to work for it though. Blake Koch got tagged by the #33 and went for a slide. Caution of course and that bunched the field back up.

That set up another restart and you know what they say, cautions breed cautions. Some sort of incest joke could go in there. I’ll come back to that. But the #00 of Cole Custer tagged the #2 of cowboy with perfect facial hair Austin Dillon.

Dillon was none too happy. He waited for the #00 to come back around and pinned him against the wall like he was an NCAA wrestler in St. Louis this weekend.

What is interesting about this is NASCAR VP Steve O’Donnell did say this week that will have zero tolerance for drivers using their cars as weapons to settle disputes. You can argue what “weapon” is because it’s a relative term. Dillon did use his car though so you can expect to see a fine.

None of that could stop Justin Allgaier though as he returned to victory lane. JR Motorpsports put all 4 of their cars in the Top 10. JGR vs. JR Motorsports looks like it is going to be a thing all season. The chevys have power this year, the low downforce has evened the field.
